As Is, iki farklı kilin tek bir heykel içinde bir araya geldiği bir yapıttır. Altta siyah şamotlu stoneware çamuru ve üstte porselen çamuru yapıyı oluşturur. Yapıtın üretim sürecinde sanatçı, kilin kendi davranışına müdahale etmemeyi bir yöntem olarak benimsemiştir. Kuruma aşamasında oluşan çatlakları bir kusur olarak değil, malzemenin kendi kaydı olarak değerlendirmiş ve tamir etmemiştir. Porselenin siyah kilin üzerindeki duruşu, iki malzemenin birbirini bastırmadan bir arada var olabilmesini araştırır. Tepedeki açıklığın işaret ettiği siyah boşluk, görünür yüzeyin altında süregelen bir içselliğin ifadesidir. As Is, kusurun saklanması gereken bir şey olmadığı, aksine kişiye ait olanın kendisi olduğu bir kucaklama pratiği olarak düşünülmüştür.
As Is is a sculpture in which two distinct clays are brought together within a single form. Black chamotte stoneware below and porcelain above compose the structure. Throughout the making of the work, the artist adopted a method of non-intervention in the clay's own behaviour. The cracks that emerged during drying were treated not as flaws but as the material's own record, and were left unrepaired. The way the porcelain rests upon the black clay investigates the possibility of two materials coexisting without suppressing one another. The black void revealed through the opening at the top speaks to an interiority that persists beneath every visible surface. As Is is conceived as a practice of acceptance, in which imperfection is not something to be concealed but is understood as that which belongs most fully to the self.
